What is Rock Solid?

It is a programme developed to help local churches reach out to young people and has been used in over 300 locations around the country. It is designed to meet the needs and tastes of non-Christian 11-14 year olds. Rock Solid is a tremendous resource to reach this vital age group many of whom have little knowledge of Christianity.

Rock Solid consists of over 100 themes which are updated each term so no two nights are the same. Club nights are based around a theme for example; drugs, media, bullying, friendship and training parents! They move from games to life skills using various mediums, role-play and video, to discussion groups and finishing with a messy crunch game which most young people enjoy. The programmes are flexible and to be used as a tool, so you pick which parts will suit your club and the young people in it

What makes it so good?

It’s full of fun and excitement, fast moving and different each week. The young people get to do activities they would not experience anywhere else!

Rock Solid is about making new friends and building relationships. The programmes are designed with that in mind. So it’s good to use in many settings including schools.

Life skills are developed helping them to relate to each other and adults at home and build a good foundation for their lives. Themes include; ‘How to stay out of trouble’, ‘How to avoid conflict’, ‘How to make friends’ etc.

The material allows the leaders time to concentrate on building relationships with the young people and praying for them too.

What about the Gospel?

Well that’s just it, every programme allows you to communicate the Gospel and the way God cares for your young people in an appropriate way. The ‘Good News’ is declared through ‘The Thought for the week’. It gives God’s perspective on the issue you are looking at.

Rock Solid helps committed Christians develop their skills increasing their effectiveness with 11-14 year olds.
Obviously you need to build a team to run the club and the strength of that team is very important. You will quickly see who has what gifts to use in the different parts of the programme. To run a Rock Solid Club you should have a minimum of one leader to every 5 young people and at least 4 leaders (2 male, 2 female if possible) to be present on any Club night.

Partnership

Rock Solid was devised in partnership with National Youth for Christ and here in Norfolk you have an opportunity to run a club in partnership with Norwich Youth for Christ. Contact us for details.

Together we can make a difference in the lives of 11-14 year olds in this area.

One club saw 5 young people become Christians through Rock Solid and they are still being discipled 3 years later. This is just one of many stories around the country.

It is a very good platform to enable local churches meet the needs of this age group.

When you sign up you will receive training and manuals for leaders. We will help you get your club started and provide regular training opportunities.

Rock Solid 2 or RS2 is also available.
It's used with the same age, and the same dynamic formula, but on Sunday mornings or midweek for those who want to develop their faith.
